Nicki Fortunati-Warren is a multidisciplinary artist originally born near Milan, Italy. She is currently based in the Chicagoland area. She works in a variety of mediums including: ink, watercolor, gouache, textiles, colored pencil, oil, and collage.
She draws inspiration from many modern art movements such as German expressionism, impressionism, fauvism, and various folk art movements. She is particularly fascinated with memory, nostalgia, fantasy, folklore and the effects they have in art. Her illustration work ranges from book style illustrations to food illustrations. Some of her illustrations are hand drawn and subsequently colored in Procreate pro. She has experience creating comic strips and had a relatively long running webcomic called “Stars over Chicago” and is involved with ongoing comic\graphic novel projects.
She is also a bookbinder and likes to make hardcover sketchbooks and notebooks that combine her illustrative work with bookmaking.
